Music technology is often missing from the Key Stage 3 (KS3) curriculum, typically introduced at GCSE level. Based on feedback from local schools, ASONE Hub initiated a transformative project at Hayle Academy, led by Si Gordon from Black & Gold Audio, aimed at boosting teachers' confidence and elevating KS3 students to KS4 proficiency levels in music technology.Over 13 weeks, students delved into the world of music technology and sound design, with a focus on using GarageBand and Logic.
The results? Remarkable! Not only did students gain vital skills for KS4 music options, but they also saw increased GCSE uptake. Now, Hayle Academy boasts a dedicated music technology suite, fostering a modern and dynamic learning environment. This initiative's legacy will continue to shape the future, nurturing a new generation of musically adept and music tech-savvy students.
