About The Role:
Helston Community College, part of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, is excited to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our very successful Special Needs Team as a Learning Champion from November 2025.
You will be supporting students with specific learning needs, advising on strategies, delivering intervention programmes, and drawing up support plans that include strategies for academic, social, and emotional difficulties.
The Successful Candidate Will:
· Be passionate about inclusive teaching and learning;
· Be flexible and demonstrate strong teamwork skills;
· Be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills;
· Have a keen interest in autism, dyslexia, and other neurodiverse profiles;
· Have experience of working with children within a learning environment;
What You’ll Do:
As a Learning Champion, you will:
· Work closely with the SENCo and wider SEND team to identify and support students with additional needs;
· Deliver targeted interventions, both academic and pastoral, to small groups and individuals;
· Support teachers in differentiating classroom practice and implementing inclusive strategies;
· Contribute to the development and review of individual support plans;
· Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure joined-up support;
· Promote student independence, resilience, and confidence across the curriculum.
