St Ives School is the first secondary school to join the Truro and Penwith Academy Trust. It is an 11-16 school in an area of outstanding beauty, and is enjoying rapid improvement following their recent Ofsted inspection. Their Curriculum includes an innovative foundation year in preparation for GCSE within the humanities and languages faculties, which boosts attainment at GCSE. In 2013 64% of students achieved 5 or more A*-C GCSE grades including English and Maths, making them the top performing school in the Penwith area.
St Ives is home to The Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and the area is world-renowned for its artistic history. Practical and creative subjects such as Graphics, Textiles and Art are a real strength of the school and all of these subjects enjoyed a pass-rate of over 95% in last year’s examinations.
