Congratulations to Jenny Blunden, CEO of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust on receiving an OBE
Dr Jenny Blunden, the Chief Executive Officer of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday honours list published on Saturday 8th June 2019. Jenny will become an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services to Education. Jenny said “I am delighted, amazed and honoured to be recognised in this way and this is very much about our whole Trust not about one person.” “This is a reflection of the hard work of many people across our Trust who are completely focused on improving the education and life chances for children in Cornwall.”
Ofsted’s summary evaluation of Truro and Penwith Academy Trust published in February this year found the chief executive officer to provide ‘inspirational and strategic leadership’. Ofsted recognised that Jenny leads the Trust’s growth with ‘uncompromising adherence to the Trust’s mission to retain each school’s distinctiveness within its local community’. The Trust has grown from three sponsored schools in 2014 to 28 primary and secondary schools across three geographic hubs in Cornwall. Jenny became CEO in 2015 after being Director of Teaching School with Truro and Penwith College and previously a member of the national Teaching Schools Council.
Jenny works with colleagues in the South West Regional Commissioners Officer and other school leaders to develop school improvement systems to improve the quality of education in the region and as a director of Leading Schools South West to develop high quality leadership opportunities.
Living in rural Cornwall, Jenny enjoys a busy family life with her husband, two teenagers and a menagerie of horses, dogs and other animals.
