Truro & Penwith Academy Trust was established in April 2014 and initially sponsored three schools – a secondary school and two primary schools – with Truro and Penwith College. The Trust is aligned in terms of ethos and vision with the College and is committed to improving the life chances of the children and young people in schools within the Trust.
The Trust has grown over the last two years with schools choosing the become academies within the Trust, establishing distinctive geographic hubs of schools in Penwith, around Truro and in the Clays area to the east.
At the heart of the Trust’s vision is a commitment to developing and supporting high quality teaching and leadership in all our schools, and to the professional development of our teams through close partnership with Cornwall Teaching School.
Truro and Penwith Academy Trust will:
- focus on improving learning and teaching for all – to enable all children and young people to have the best possible learning experience, leading to the highest levels of achievement and improving life chances
- build on Truro and Penwith College’s example in high quality leadership and governance, with a high calibre skills-led Board of Trustees leading the strategic direction for the Trust with accountability for standards in schools and Local Governing Boards acting as local guardians for their schools
- recognise and encourage local distinctiveness and individuality and inspire its schools to become beacons of hope and aspiration in the communities they serve, with schools in geographic hubs of schools
- work with academy schools to sustain partnerships for excellence in teaching, learning and leadership in Cornwall and work in partnership with the Cornwall Teaching School and its associates to provide bespoke school support and improvement activities of the highest quality in its schools
